Journey into Sound & Wellness

Today, I’m feeling truly happy and fulfilled. Why? Because a small seed of an idea has now grown into something real. We successfully completed a Sound Bath and Wellness Tourism session on 12th, 13th, 14th July 2025 at NATHM College.
This happened thanks to the incredible support from NATHM’s Travel & Research Department Head Ajay Dhakal Sir, and especially Mr. Damber R. Bhatta and Shubham Paudel Sir. Also, a big thank you to Guru Nirajan Tiwari of Nimi Wellness Centre, without their help, none of this would have been possible.

How It All Started

It began when I shared the Nimi Wellness Centre website with Damber Sir. I had a class at NATHM, and he casually said, “Good morning Upadesh  Kunwor Sir, don’t you think our BTTM students should also experience one of these sessions?”
I replied, “Yes, of course! I’ll coordinate.”  That’s how the idea moved forward. We met the following Monday - me, Nirajan Sir, Damber Sir, and Shubham Sir - over some delicious Italian food at Fine Lunch NATHM. We discussed the session format, schedule, and logistics. Once we finalized the plan, an official letter arrived from NATHM.

By Thursday evening, our  Gange Dai came with a vehicle to pick up our Singing Bowls and Gongs. Due to rain, we arrived a little late, but we quickly set up and began preparing. I had previously experienced sound baths but never facilitated or played the instruments myself.

That’s when Guru Nirajan Tiwari became my teacher. He patiently taught me how to hold and play the bowls, how to strike them, and how to flow with the rhythm of the healing sounds. As I practiced, Shubham Sir arrived and even tried playing a few smaller bowls himself. He was completely absorbed by the experience.

Later that night, three of us stopped by “Thapa Dai’s Tea Shop” near NATHM for some classic chiya and snacks. It was already 8 PM when I headed home. Nirajan Sir dropped me off at Teku. I ate dinner and went to bed with a mix of excitement and nervousness. At 3 AM, I woke up - still thinking about the techniques I had learned. After completing my morning rituals, I left for NATHM at 6:30 AM with Nirajan Sir.

Day 1: A Deep Dive Into Sound

After setting up the hall, we were joined by Shubham Sir, Damber Sir, and Urusha Ma’am. Our first session began at 7:30 AM with students from BTTM 2nd semester more than 90 students! Although the space could only fit 63 mats, we managed by letting the rest sit on chairs and made sure no one missed out. Nirajan Sir opened the session with a 15-minute introduction to sound and Nāda Yoga, followed by a short 5-minute meditation.

My role was to support from the back - playing the bowls exactly as I had learned the day before. Honestly, I was nervous at first, but the moment I started producing sound, everything flowed. Nirajan Sir then led a 40-minute gong and singing bowl therapy session, while Sandesh Jee captured the moments on camera.

After that, it was time for personal healing. I picked up my bowl and stick and went to a participant sitting quietly in the corner. I applied what I had just learned, and it felt amazing. I, too, was traveling
through sound.

We wrapped up the session with group photos, and later that night I sent the photos to Damber Sir. By Saturday morning, NATHM had already posted about the session on Instagram and Facebook and it felt like the word had gone out across Nepal and beyond.

Day 2: Seniors, Sound & Sunday Vibes

Sunday was for 6th semester BTTM students. My class ran from 7:00 to 8:00 AM for section B, and then we headed straight to hall. These students were more senior, and they had a deeper understanding of what sound therapy could offer. From 8:00 to 9:30 AM, we did a full sound bath session, followed by an open Q&A. There were 52 participants, and the interaction was inspiring. One student shared that they were feeling physically unwell, and their words affected me deeply. They had helped us organize this session, and I felt their presence throughout. I discussed this with Guru Nirajan later at our Ambassador Himalaya office. Despite it all, we carried on.

Final Day: The Sound Within

Monday was our final day. We held two sessions. The first started at 7:45 AM for BTTM 4th semester.
At 9:45 AM, our last session was held for NATHM officials and BTTM/BHM teachers. We gave them a one-hour sound bath and healing experience, followed by a short Q&A and, of course, some beautiful photos. We ended the journey with a group lunch and future planning discussions. It was a perfect closure to a beautiful collaboration.

Gratitude from the Heart

A heartfelt thank you to Guru Nirajan Tiwari, Damber R. Bhatta, and the entire NATHM team, and everyone who supported us on this journey. Your faith and support turned this vision into a meaningful, healing reality. Here’s to more sound, more healing, and more stories to tell.
