Phulchoki hike was a joyous experiences for me and my team
(Mr. Adhikari B, Mr.Maharjan A, Mr.Pokharel P). We reached our hiking start
point at Godawari, Lalitpur at 0800 morning. Before the hike had a light
breakfast at Godawari to get energized for exciting hike uphill. Then, we
caught the trail of Phulchoki and saw the under development of Godawari- Phulchoki
hiking trail for domestic and international
tourists. I think, it should be used the
stone steps paths but we saw the plaster ladder steps trail. We went ahead rugged trails,
dense sub-tropical forest (Naudhara Community Forest) of diverse plants and
vegetation including rhododendrons, chestnut, oaks, Kafal and lush forest. On
the way of hiking we took Kafal fruits and ate that was incredible moment of
our hike. I have done a stupid thing to climb the Kafal free and pick up
fruits.
Our walking was an easy and picturesque view like lush
forest, plants, flora and fauna, flowers, several species of orchids, melodious
chirping of birds, colorful birds, butterflies, Phulchoki kunda, and so on. It
had taken four and half hour for reaching at the top of hill (8775 ft). The prime
attraction of hike is the shrine of Phulchoki Mai which is bounded by prayer
flags at the top of hill. And near the Devi-thaan could see the Nepal Television
Broadcast Center (NTV) tower, Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA)
communication tower and Nepal Army Camp. Unfortunately, unable to see the
magnificent views of Himalayan ranges and the breathtaking view of Kathmandu
valley because it was cloudy day. We vow to return with Phulchoki Devi, and
Devi says definitely you will come clear day then to view the mountain ranges
and Kathmandu valley.
The hike to reach the top was not easy task but when we
reached the top of hill and felt cloudy environment and cold, it told us the
hike was worth it. It was wonderful and memorable moment in my life. After
resting an hour at Phulchoki, we was descending the same trail for about two
hours at Godawari my friends divided Kafal fruits for his family, and caught
the bus for Kathmandu. Finally I want to say you don’t have to go far to feel
the nature. There are beautiful places around Kathmandu Valley that could help
you skip the busy city life and appreciate life.
